CGI and Photography Composition

3D CGI models for a commercial vehicle brake manufacturer, placing trucks into testing environments.

3D computer generated images (CGI) are perfect for situations where a real photo would be too difficult and unsafe to recreate. This was the case for the Textar commercial vehicle brakes in the image below. We placed two 3D CGI trucks side by side – something that would not be recommended in real life. Long steep descents can cause brake failure with lower performance pads, the range of images were designed to show high-speed roads and long, difficult descents that could cause brake fade.

Other CGI images included an overhead image of two trucks braking, side by side in a series of cones to replicate a test track situation.

These images could not have been created without the use of 3D modelling and CGI. The truck’s environment was replicated as close as possible with regards to lighting direction, intensity and diffusion for the background of the image. Further details were then added in photoshop to complete the image.
