At Pure Photography Studio, we recently had the pleasure of hosting the Napa Racing team for an exciting studio shoot featuring two of their race vehicles for the upcoming motorsport season.
The shoot included their British Touring Car Championship contender alongside their Mini Challenge race car, both prepared for competition later this year.
It was a fantastic opportunity to capture two highly engineered racing machines in a controlled studio environment, producing striking imagery that highlights the design, livery, and performance-focused details of each car.
Race ready and looking their best…
The vehicles arrived at the studio in Napa Racing’s impressive articulated support truck, accompanied by their mechanics and team crew. The truck itself is a familiar sight within the paddock during race weekends and seeing it pull up outside the studio immediately brought the atmosphere of the race circuit with it. Once unloaded, the team carefully prepared the cars before positioning them within the studio space. Having the race mechanics on hand ensured that the cars were presented in perfect condition, with every detail checked and cleaned prior to photography.
The shoot took place inside our white infinity studio, providing a clean and distraction-free environment that allows the vehicles to stand out with maximum visual impact. This style of white space photography is particularly effective for motorsport imagery, as it emphasises the shape, colours, and sponsor graphics without any competing background elements.
The best car photography Studio in Leeds?
A key element of the shoot was the use of our large six-metre by three-metre soft box light suspended from the ceiling. This lighting setup is ideal for photographing highly reflective surfaces such as race car bodywork. The scale of the light source allows us to create smooth, controlled reflections that run cleanly across the panels, highlighting the curves and aerodynamic lines of the vehicles while avoiding harsh glare or uneven highlights.
Using this lighting approach, we were able to produce a series of beautifully balanced images of both the British Touring Car and the Mini Challenge car. The reflections across the paintwork were crisp and consistent, allowing the bold Napa Racing livery to stand out while maintaining a polished, high-end studio finish.

The final results were extremely impressive. The photographs captured the precision, engineering, and visual impact of the cars perfectly, while the clean white studio environment gave the images a striking and modern feel. The finished images looked superbly clean and highly professional, exactly the kind of visual content required for team marketing, media releases, and sponsor promotion.
The studio worked perfectly for this type of automotive photography, and the Napa Racing team were extremely happy with the results. It was a pleasure to work with such a professional race team and to help create imagery that reflects the energy and excitement of the upcoming racing season.
